I am Brent Lacy, an author, speaker, podcaster, and IT strategist with a passion for helping both businesses and rural communities thrive. My journey has taken me through technology leadership, ministry, and community advocacy, giving me a unique perspective on how innovation and faith can work together to strengthen people and organizations.

I have been working in information technology since 1997, serving in roles that range from hands‑on technical support to strategic advisory leadership. Today, I serve as Strategic Advisory Manager at Core Managed IT Services, where I lead a team of vCIOs who help businesses design technology roadmaps, improve cybersecurity, and align IT with long‑term growth strategies. I am also behind RewiredMSP.com, a growing resource dedicated to helping managed service providers rethink their approach to client strategy and vCIO services.

My background is not limited to IT. I spent 15 years as a youth pastor in rural Indiana, where I became a proud lock‑in survivor. Those years gave me a deep love for rural ministry and the challenges faced by small churches. Most Sunday mornings, you will find me teaching from the Bible in the pulpit of a small church somewhere in rural Indiana. I also served as a child abuse investigator in the rural Midwest, which shaped my commitment to advocacy and care for vulnerable communities.

As an author, I have written books that span ministry, technology, and storytelling. My titles include Rural Youth Ministry: Expanded Second Edition, vCIO Rewired: Virtually Conquering IT Obstacles, Near Miss: 10 Ways Your IT Guy is Failing to Protect You, This is NOT DiY: Renovating the Local Congregation, and A Fat Cat Named Oreo. These works reflect my desire to equip leaders with practical tools while also sharing stories that inspire. I have also contributed to the resources at Group Magazine,  CalledtoYouthMinistry.com , MinistryPlace.Net, and YouthMinistry.com

I am also the host of the RuralThinkTank Podcast, where I share insights on rural ministry, small business leadership, and IT strategy. In addition to my own podcast, I have been a guest on several others, offering perspectives on technology, leadership, and ministry. I partnered with EmpathMSP to co‑develop a training course for vCIOs, helping IT leaders move beyond being translators of technology and become true strategic advisors.

At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to innovation in rural communities. Whether through technology consulting, ministry leadership, or writing, my mission is to help organizations and churches embrace change, strengthen resilience, and grow with purpose.
